Chindi works with women from marginalised neighbourhoods in India who knit, crochet and sew products using textile waste that would otherwise end up in a landfill. Every piece is one of a kind, glitchy, patchy and handmade with love!
2. Business sustainability
I'm not sure what this question means, but Chindi has existed for 2 years now and succeeded at making a name for itself and our products through minimal sales and marketing efforts. We hope that this job listing will help us take our women's work to a wider market.
Chindi's products are unique as they are not only made of garment manufacturing waste but many of them are also hand knitted and crocheted.
"I love coming to the centre to meet Aunty and Tanu Didi. I never worked before this, and I never imagined you can do so much with scrap!"
— Sarita Crochet Craftswoman
"The craftswomen who work here are like my daughters, I scold them but I also advise them on their day to day troubles. Mostly, I just really enjoy their company and the environment of mutual respect."
— Roopa Shukla Women's Centre Manager
