Voice 4 Girls

Voice 4 Girls

VOICE 4 Girls equips adolescent girls in India to take the first step in breaking harmful cycles by imparting critical knowledge and life skills. Our activity-based camps build girls' sense of self by delivering content about health, safety, rights and future planning. Camp activities instill life skills like critical thinking and leadership through practice & participation. With this information and new skillset in hand, adolescent girls are better equipped to advocate for themselves.

The Work

2. Business sustainability

VOICE is an enterprising non-profit that has established demand for its product in the market place. The camps are fee based, and generate revenue to help VOICE work towards financial sustainability. Revenue generation will decrease dependency on external funding and promote scale. The camps have been designed to scale nationally while adapting locally, delivering curriculum that addresses the problems girls across India face.

3. Innovation

VOICE moves away from rote learning practices found in schools, employing activity-based learning techniques that allow girls to learn by doing. Girls proactively develop leadership and critical thinking with the help of their counsellors. By integrating English into daily life, girls learn the language faster and more thoroughly. Girls leave camp with increased knowledge, better spoken English skills and the confidence needed to take charge of their own futures.

""My work at VOICE is challenging, yet immensely rewarding. After working so hard to implement camps, it is amazing to see the visible change in our campers, who then go on to act as leaders in their own schools.""

— Brinda Program Officer

"I came to work at VOICE directly after graduating from college in the US, and couldn't be happier with my decision. I am given the freedom to shape my own projects here and the responsibilities I take on, making my work engaging and self-motivated."
